Reports claim that Apple will make a significant change to the iPhone 16 camera, marking the first redesign since 2013. A group of leakers shared images of the upcoming smartphone, showing a sleeker camera system capable of capturing 3D spatial video for playback on the Apple Vision Pro VR headset.
The change will be quite different from the current iPhone design, which features a high-quality diagonal camera layout. While Apple has not disclosed any details about its upcoming smartphone, the new leaks reveal a clear setup for just two cameras. For months, industry insiders have reported that Apple will implement several major modifications to the camera system for the upcoming iPhone 16.
A completely new button for quicker camera activation has also been reported. A report from Tom's Guide revealed a new alignment that will allow the phone to capture shots from both the main and ultra-wide cameras simultaneously. All new iPhone 16 models will feature an ultra-wide camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels, said to be better for capturing spatial video.
Reports have also indicated that the new phone's cameras will come with a redesigned anti-glare lens coating. Apple typically holds several conferences throughout the year regarding new products, such as the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held last June for third-party app developers, and usually unveils new iPhone models in September.
