The Egyptian Armed Forces announced today, Tuesday, that the naval forces successfully rescued a boat carrying 31 individuals engaged in illegal migration after it experienced a technical malfunction. Egyptian military spokesperson Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafiz Gharib stated in a statement: "Continuing the efforts of the naval forces to support marine search and rescue operations in all strategic directions, elements of the naval forces succeeded in rescuing a boat involved in illegal migration carrying 31 individuals of various nationalities after it encountered a technical failure 130 nautical miles from Sallum. A report was received about a boat with a malfunctioning engine transporting individuals for the purpose of illegal migration, and the General Command of the Armed Forces issued orders to provide support and assistance to the vessel."
He added, "Immediately, the naval forces deployed rescue units equipped with all medical and administrative needs to carry out relief and evacuation operations for the individuals on the boat, and the naval units managed to rescue 30 individuals, including 5 in critical condition, in addition to recovering one deceased person. The individuals were handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary actions."
