Pentagon Predicts Potential Iranian Attack on Israel

The Pentagon announced that "we continue to focus on de-escalating tensions in the region, and we continue to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East while working to ease tensions." It added, "We will send the submarine USS Georgia to the central region to assist Israel," emphasizing its ongoing "focus on securing a ceasefire in Gaza as part of the hostage deal."

A Pentagon statement indicated that "U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin discussed with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant the Iranian 'threats' and efforts to limit the expansion of the conflict." It confirmed that "an attack by Iran on Israel is possible, but we cannot predict when, and we must take it seriously."

The Pentagon also announced that "the U.S. State Department approved a potential sale of advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles to Israel worth up to $102.5 million." Additionally, the State Department approved a "potential sale of F-15 IA and F-15 I+ aircraft to Israel for $18.82 billion," as well as approving a "potential sale of 120mm artillery shells to Israel for $774.1 million."
