Does Coffee Help Delay the Appearance of Wrinkles?

A new scientific study has shown that daily coffee consumption can positively affect skin tissues and maintain youthfulness for as long as possible. Here are the details.

Changes in skin condition over time are entirely natural, as the skin loses its elasticity and firmness day by day, which leads to the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Natural solutions available to delay this phenomenon include self-massage and gestures that can be performed during skincare routines. Some makeup products can also help conceal wrinkles and enhance radiance, while foods that stimulate collagen production play a crucial role in delaying the appearance of wrinkles.

In this regard, a study conducted by scientists at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing has shown that the coffee consumed daily by millions has the ability to delay the appearance of skin lines and wrinkles.

**The Secret of Coffee**

This study, published in the "Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology," examined the effects of coffee, tea, and juices on skin cells. Researchers analyzed the genetic and physiological data of around half a million people from around the world, aged between 40 and 69 years, who participated in an online survey.

The results revealed that coffee consumers have better protection against skin aging compared to tea and juice consumers. Experts attribute these results to the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory molecules found in caffeine, which help reduce oxidative stress and, thus, skin aging. Caffeine also aids in boosting the production of the enzyme telomerase, which maintains youthful skin for a longer period.

Regarding the other beverages mentioned in the study, no evidence was found to confirm their effects on delaying signs of aging. However, it is noteworthy that the accompanying remarks in this study pointed out that relying solely on surveys provides only a preliminary picture that cannot be considered comprehensive results. This explains the need for further research to understand the causal relationship between these beverages and skin aging.

**Timing of Coffee**

If coffee consumption is beneficial for maintaining youthful skin, the timing of consumption also plays a role. Drinking coffee on an empty stomach in the morning is considered harsh on the immune system and harmful to the skin. Therefore, nutrition experts advise drinking it after breakfast to benefit from its health and beauty-enhancing properties.
