The Spanish newspaper El Periodico reported, citing journalist Laura Fa, that Colombian star of Lebanese descent Shakira has scheduled her departure from Spain to Miami on April 1, 2024. The journalist noted that this date will be fixed if everything goes smoothly, especially concerning her father's health.
Shakira had been negotiating with her children’s father, Gerard Piqué, regarding their move to the United States with their sons Milan and Sasha and custody arrangements. It was expected that Shakira would relocate to the United States by the end of the previous year, either in December 2022 or early January 2023, according to various reports, but she delayed the move due to her father William Mebarak's declining health.
Recently, Shakira appeared in an interview with journalist Enrique Acevedo on the Mexican channel Canal Estrellas, where she discussed her life post-separation from Piqué.
The star also delivered a veiled message to Piqué's new girlfriend, with whom he had cheated, stating: "There is a special place in hell for a woman who doesn’t help another woman."
The 46-year-old singer expressed that her separation was a brutally honest time in her life, stating that she never felt the support of her friends and fans. She said, "Not all dreams come true in life. But life finds a way to compensate you somehow."
Shakira admitted, "I have always been emotionally dependent on men - I must confess this - I was in love with love," adding that she once believed women needed a man to feel complete. She continued, "Somehow, I managed to learn from a different perspective and feel that I will be okay on my own. When a woman has to face hardships in life, she emerges stronger. And when she emerges stronger, it means she learns to recognize her weaknesses and accept them."
Now, Shakira says she is moving forward and has managed to feel that she is enough, something she "never thought would happen."
She spoke about her sons, Sasha (8 years old) and Milan (10 years old), whom she shares with Piqué, stating: "I feel complete because I feel I can rely on myself and I have two children who depend on me. I have to be stronger than a lion. That strength, to be real and not a facade, must come as a result of great pain. Accepting that pain and enduring disappointment because there are things in life that do not turn out the way we want." She added, "There are broken dreams, and we have to pick up the pieces and put them back together ourselves."
