Ukrainian lawmakers stated that "the Ukrainian parliament approved on Tuesday a bill paving the way for the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church linked to Russia." The legislation prohibits the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church on Ukrainian territory and mandates a ban on religious organizations "affiliated" with it. The ban will be enacted by a court decision. Kyiv regards the Ukrainian Orthodox Church historically connected to Russia as a breeding ground for Russian influence and claims it is complicit in the country's full-scale invasion.
