Title: YouTuber Hamdy and His Wife Face Court on Bitcoin Trafficking Charges

The concerned prosecution in Egypt has referred YouTuber Hamdy Gaber and his wife Wafaa to trial before the Economic Court. The court has scheduled the first session of the trial for Saturday, June 8. The prosecution has charged the defendants with trafficking in Bitcoin and violating family values within society, according to reports from Egyptian media.

Attorney Ashraf Farhat submitted a complaint to the public prosecutor against Hamdy and his wife, accusing them of trading in Bitcoin, illicit currency trading, and electronic extortion. Farhat explained in his complaint that the two prominent YouTubers established several accounts on social media, which specialized in infringing upon the rights of others and promoting trading via cryptocurrency and electronic currencies by inviting others to enter accounts that perform such functions, in exchange for money.

The complaint also noted that the Egyptian Dar al-Iftaa declared that dealing in cryptocurrencies is religiously forbidden as it harms the national economy. Additionally, the complaint stated that the Central Bank warned against dealing in all types of virtual cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, citing their high risks due to significant value fluctuations resulting from unregulated global speculation.

Furthermore, the complaint referenced Article 206 of the Central Bank Law No. 194 of 2020, which states that the issuance of cryptocurrencies or electronic money, trading in them, promoting them, or creating and operating platforms for trading them is prohibited without obtaining a license from the board, according to the rules and procedures it specifies.

In terms of public reaction, it is worth mentioning that the famous YouTuber Hamdy Gaber and his wife Wafaa caused a significant stir on social media after announcing their return to Egypt following a three-year absence.

Hamdy Gaber, 37, is a civil engineer graduate but left the engineering profession to pursue content creation on YouTube. Hamdy and Wafaa have achieved considerable success on YouTube, garnering millions of views on their videos, which led them to open a restaurant named after them, "Hamdy and Wafaa."
