Austrian Fighters Escort Israeli Plane After Crew Fails to Respond

The Israeli website "i24 news" reported that Austrian fighter jets escorted an El Al Israeli airline plane due to the crew's failure to respond to ground control calls in Austria. The site stated that "while the El Al aircraft was at an altitude of 37,000 feet over Germany, following its planned flight path, regional air traffic control requested it to switch to the next frequency. The crew did not respond to communications from German and Austrian controllers who attempted to reach them on various frequencies."

It clarified that "air traffic control asked nearby aircraft to try to communicate with the Israeli plane; however, its pilots did not answer. Throughout this time, the aircraft continued flying according to its planned itinerary, maintaining the required altitude and speed without deviating from its route."

The report noted that "after the lack of response to any requests, and in accordance with protocol in such cases, Austrian Eurofighter jets were dispatched to approach the aircraft and establish visual contact with the crew. The fighters then returned to their military base while the plane continued its journey to Ben Gurion Airport without any further incidents."
