A report from the World Bank for April has predicted that Iraq will achieve the second largest growth in GDP among Arab countries in 2024. The bank noted in the report that "Iraq's GDP is expected to grow by 2.8 percent in the current year 2023, following a growth of 7.9 percent in 2022." It added, "Iraq's GDP will grow by 4.4 percent in 2024, ranking second after Djibouti, which is expected to have a growth of 5.4 percent." The report stated that "Qatar's GDP growth will be 2.9 percent, the UAE 3.4 percent, and Saudi Arabia 3.3 percent, while Egypt's growth will be 4 percent, Jordan 2.4 percent, and Tunisia 3 percent."
The World Bank report indicated that "per capita GDP growth in Iraq is also expected to rise by 2 percent in 2024, after being 0.4 percent in 2023." It clarified that "the highest per capita GDP growth in Arab countries for 2024 will be in Djibouti at 4.2 percent, followed by the UAE at 3.4 percent."
Bank experts, according to the report, suggested that "growth in the Middle East and North Africa region in 2023 is expected to be 3 percent, with 3.1 percent in 2024. The World Bank also anticipated an increase in per capita GDP growth in the region to 1.6 percent in 2023 and 1.7 percent in 2024."
