The Qatari beach volleyball team won against their Italian counterparts in straight sets in the first round of Group A at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Qatari team, consisting of Sherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan, who are the bronze medalists from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, delivered a strong performance against the Italian duo of Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava. Qatar secured the first set with a score of 21-19 and maintained their dominance in the second set, winning it 21-18 for the overall victory.
The Qatari team will face the Swedish team today, Sunday, in the second round of Group A, and will conclude the group stage with a match against the Australian team number 2 on August 1. The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the Round of 16, along with the best two third-placed teams, resulting in a total of 14 qualified teams.
