The name "Pavel," son of the late leader of the Russian military group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has been prominently mentioned in recent hours, especially after a photo of the 25-year-old widely circulated on Telegram through pro-Wagner accounts, accompanied by a statement that Yevgeny entrusted his son with Wagner's leadership. According to information, Yevgeny’s son has taken command of the elite unit within the group that has returned to combat in Ukraine.
Despite the Kremlin announcing days ago that retired Colonel Andrei Troshev, nicknamed "The Old Man," would manage the group of Russian volunteer fighters in Ukraine, the fate of Wagner, whose majority of members withdrew from Ukrainian territories following the failed coup led by its commander last June, remains unclear.
Groups affiliated with Wagner confirmed that Pavel Prigozhin would take leadership, adding that he is negotiating with Moscow about redeploying its fighters to the frontlines in Ukraine. Concurrently, pro-Wagner accounts also shared a document showing a will dated March of this year, stating that Pavel should inherit the group's assets and militias, as reported by the Telegraph.
