Berri: We Need to Act as One National Team to Achieve Our National Obligations

The President of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, wished that "all political forces in Lebanon approach issues and topics related to the life of the state, its constitutional institutions, and their relationships with a sportsmanlike spirit." He considered that "if this spirit is not generalized across all segments of society, we cannot succeed in any area, whether in politics or otherwise, as its absence will lead to failure even in sports."

During his reception of a delegation from the Al-Najma Sports Club in Ain el-Tineh today, Berri stated, "We are in urgent need to act in our performance and behavior as one national team, in order to achieve our national obligations; only then can we save Lebanon and protect it from existential dangers." He added, "With unity, no power in the world can harm Lebanon, but with division and fragmentation, we open the doors to various dangers."

The meeting included the club's president Mazen Zaini, members of the administrative and technical bodies, and players, in the presence of the head of the sports sector in the Future Movement, Faisal Qalaawi, and the head of the central youth and sports office in the Amal Movement, Dr. Ali Yassin. The delegation presented President Nabih Berri with the trophy of the "Lebanon Cup" recently won by the club. The visit was also an opportunity for Zaini to discuss the sports situation, particularly the topic of facilities and stadiums, and the necessity for their rehabilitation. For this purpose, the president made a call to the Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government, Dr. George Kallas.

For his part, Zaini thanked President Berri, stating that he is "the supporter of various sports games in Lebanon and a supporter of Al-Najma Club." He expressed how much encouragement the team received after he congratulated them on winning the cup championship. Berri also discussed general conditions and the latest political developments during his meeting with member of the Democratic Gathering, MP Wael Abou Faour. This afternoon, he received the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, where they reviewed general conditions, political developments, and bilateral relations between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
