Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro condemned the "terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime, using drones on the Kremlin," expressing solidarity with Russia, both its people and government. In a statement published by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Maduro said: "The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela fully expresses its solidarity with Russia’s people and government during these events, and hopes that the relevant authorities will hold accountable those behind this attack."
On his part, the head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma, Vladimir Vasilyev, stated that the “Ukrainian terrorist attack on the Kremlin is an assault on all Russians, and thus defending Russia and its president is an obligation for everyone.” He emphasized on his Telegram channel that "the attack on the Kremlin, attempts to assassinate political leaders, sabotage of railways, power lines, and infrastructure, including the explosion of the Crimean bridge and gas pipelines, are terrorist activities of the Kyiv regime and its handlers."
The chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, Leonid Slutsky, remarked that "the leaders of the countries supporting the Ukrainian regime should bear the responsibility for the drone attack on the Kremlin alongside Vladimir Zelensky and Joe Biden." The Russian Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, deemed that "the remarks of U.S. officials regarding the attack on the Kremlin using drones are shocking due to their absurdity and audacity. They do not want to acknowledge what is clear and obvious. It was a terrorist act planned by the Zelensky regime, an attempt to assassinate the Russian president."
Antonov stressed that "the timing of the attack, just before Victory Day and the May 9 parade, is not a coincidence," noting that "the Russian side had hoped that the U.S. administration would possess the necessary will and strength to condemn the attack, but today Washington is defending the criminals in Kyiv." He viewed the recurring statements from senior U.S. officials asserting that Kyiv could choose how to defend itself as an example of double standards and a policy encouraging Zelensky's regime to carry out attacks against Russia.
Antonov stated that "the U.S. assertion that it restrains the Kyiv regime and prevents it from attacking targets outside its borders is a false farce," affirming that "Russia will respond to the attack at a time it deems necessary and according to its assessment of the threat posed by Kyiv to the Russian leadership."
The Russian presidential administration announced yesterday that the Kremlin was targeted by two drones and that as a result of timely actions taken by the military and security agencies, the drones were neutralized without any casualties or material damage. Commenting on the incident, an American official indicated yesterday that "the United States is trying to verify Moscow's accusation that Ukraine attempted, unsuccessfully, to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin with two drones at his residence in the Kremlin." Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that he "cannot verify Russia's accusation that Ukraine attempted to assassinate the Russian president," noting that he would view "any statements from the Kremlin with suspicion." White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, in her remarks about the drone attack on the Kremlin, stated that "the United States does not encourage Ukraine to strike Russian territory."
