Iranian President Masoud Bejzikian stated in a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron that "Israeli occupation is attempting, through its criminal and terrorist practices against the people of Gaza and the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, to ignite conflict in the region." The Tasnim news agency reported today that Bejzikian told Macron: "America and Western countries, instead of condemning, have supported this entity in committing crimes, genocide, and terrorism." He noted that "America and Western countries must force Israel to stop the genocide and attacks on Gaza and accept a ceasefire if they genuinely seek to prevent war and insecurity in the region." The Iranian president emphasized that "Tehran considers avoiding war and striving for global peace and security to be among its fundamental principles." He pointed out that "Iran, within the framework of treaties and international laws, will never remain silent in the face of violations that affect its interests and security."
