The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, arrived today, Thursday, in the Turkish capital Ankara for an unspecified work visit. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed the Emir at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.
The Qatari Amiri Diwan stated in a statement: "His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has arrived today in the capital Ankara for a work visit to the sisterly Republic of Turkey." It added: "Upon His Highness’s arrival at Esenboğa International Airport, he was received by Mr. Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of senior officials and members of the Qatari embassy." It noted that Emir Tamim is "accompanied by an official delegation" (the members were not specified).
The relations between the two countries have developed over the past two decades since the Justice and Development Party assumed power in Turkey, covering economic, commercial, political, military, cultural, and tourism fields.
