Spanish police have discovered the remains of a young woman who had been missing for nine years, behind a wall in her old apartment. Sibora Gajani (22 years old) disappeared nine years ago shortly after breaking up with her boyfriend, but the municipality of Torremolinos police abandoned the search after failing to obtain any information to aid their investigations.
Last month, Marco Gaiu Romeo was arrested for committing a murder, whose victim was an Italian girl who was stabbed 14 times. He confessed to the crime he committed in 2014 after seeing a picture of Gajani hanging in the police station where he was taken for questioning. Romeo admitted to dissolving Gajani's remains in acid.
According to a statement from the Spanish police, Romeo hid Gajani's remains in a box concealed within a wall of his home. The specialized unit for serious crimes noted a discrepancy in the lines of one of the walls while searching the apartment where Romeo and Gajani had lived.
Using X-rays, they discovered a hidden wooden box between two walls, next to which was a bouquet of flowers and remains placed in bags. The police transferred the remains to the morgue to verify the identity of the deceased through DNA testing.
