"Loyalty to the Resistance" MPs: National Understanding Leads to Consensus on a President for the Republic

Member of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc, MP Hussein Hajj Hassan, stated that their political team faced a coalition of parties, movements, and individuals united behind a candidate in the presidential elections. He noted that they continue to express a lack of trust in one another and there is no agreement on a political project. He pointed out that all this coalition aims to undermine the candidacy of Minister Suleiman Franjieh, questioning whether this can be called political work aimed at state-building.

During a political meeting in the town of Sirin al-Fawqa in Bekaa, he affirmed that the election of the president can only occur through understanding, dialogue, and consensus, stating, "It is not about a coalition against a candidate whom some have vetoed, some have criticized, some have expressed their lack of conviction about, and others have 'swallowed poison' for." Hajj Hassan reiterated a call for "national understanding" to achieve a consensus for electing the President of the Republic through broad national agreement.

His colleague in the bloc, MP Ali Mokdad, added that "solving the crises that the Lebanese people are entangled in, which are worsening day by day, requires a regular political operation, starting with the election of a President for the Republic." He emphasized during a political meeting in Western Baalbek that "Minister Suleiman Franjieh, whose candidacy is supported by Hezbollah, is a strong and serious candidate, and not a candidate of challenge, while the other side insists on a challenge candidate against Minister Franjieh." He considered that "the most significant and paramount issue is the displaced persons file in Lebanon, and Minister Franjieh is the most suitable and authorized person to discuss this with the Syrian government, and he is also the one capable of meeting and talking with all Lebanese parties before considering that he protects the back of the resistance. If the other side has someone with such qualifications, they are welcome to present them at the dialogue and understanding table."
