UAE Reelected to the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization

The United Arab Emirates, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, has been reelected to the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for a two-year term, receiving unanimous votes in the elections held during the organization's General Assembly, which took place in Rabat, Morocco from July 3-4, 2024.

The Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdullah bin Touq Al Mari, stated: "Thanks to the guidance of our wise leadership, the UAE witnesses a new achievement added to the Emirati civil aviation sector through its reelection to the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization. This achievement confirms the strong and distinguished partnership that binds the UAE with its Arab brothers, and it is an indicator of trust in the strength and status of the civil aviation sector as a global aviation hub."

He continued: "Without a doubt, civil aviation is one of the strong files on the agenda of Arab cooperation, which has made progress in several key areas. The UAE is keen to support all efforts aimed at enhancing and developing joint Arab work to elevate it to more advanced levels that serve the future developmental aspirations of Arab countries and boost economic growth in the region."

In this regard, Saif Mohammed Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the UAE, expressed his pride and appreciation for this achievement, which is a result of the wise vision of the UAE's leadership and affirms the UAE's position as a key player in this sector on both Arab and international levels.

He added that the UAE is committed to supporting all efforts aimed at enhancing joint Arab work, especially in the civil aviation sector, and the country will continue to back the initiatives and efforts of the Arab Organization, working with the newly elected Chairman of the Executive Council to support the organization's strategic and administrative plans, ensuring benefits and a secure and sustainable future for the Arab aviation sector, enhancing the weight and strength of the Arab group at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and contributing to advancing the Arab civil aviation sector to a more advanced and prosperous standing.

It is worth noting that the Executive Council of the organization consists of nine members elected by the General Assembly from among the candidates of the member states for a term of two years and is responsible for the organization's decisions and recommendations.
