The Maronite bishops, in the final statement of the Synod of the Maronite Church, condemned the destruction and violence inflicted upon the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and southern Lebanon, which is affecting civilians. They called on all people of conscience to exert pressure for ongoing dialogue aimed at achieving a ceasefire. The bishops discussed the conditions of the dioceses in Lebanon and noted the increasing needs amid the deteriorating economic and living conditions in Lebanon and the region, especially due to the war in Gaza and its associated calamities and destruction.
The bishops emphasized the necessity of preserving the educational sector in Lebanon and keeping it free from dangerous political interference, particularly concerning official examinations. They urged the MPs to fulfill their constitutional and national duty by electing a president, and they discussed the deteriorating living conditions in Lebanon, particularly in light of the inaction of officials in fulfilling their responsibilities. They demanded that the state fulfill its duties and grant institutions and citizens their rights.
