After the Qma'a Incident: Security Forces Reveal the Truth

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Unit, stated today, Thursday, that "on 25-6-2023, near the town of Fneidq, a shepherd found the body of a man injured by gunfire, and alongside it were several cartridges belonging to a Kalashnikov rifle. No one was able to identify the body due to facial disfigurement. As a result of the forensic examination, it was determined that he had suffered two gunshot wounds to the back."

The statement continued: "Upon investigation conducted by the Internal Security Forces, it was found that the victim was identified as A. D. (born in 1986, Lebanese), from the town of Akkar Al-Attika, and information was gathered regarding the involvement of a resident of the victim's town in the murder."

Immediately, the Information Branch began intensive inquiries and investigations, leading to confirmed data that "on the date of the crime, the victim was with his uncle and another person from the town of Akkar Al-Attika, namely: A. D. (born in 1974, Lebanese), the victim's uncle, and M. M. (born in 1975, Lebanese). Orders were given to determine the whereabouts of the aforementioned and to apprehend them as quickly as possible."

The statement further elaborated: "On 1-7-2023, after careful surveillance, the Information Branch detained them in the Qma'a outskirts and Akkar Al-Attika area. During the investigation, the first confessed that he, on the morning of 25-6-2023, was with his nephew (the victim) and M. M., armed with military weapons, headed to the Qma'a outskirts specifically in the disputed area between the two towns, near wooden houses, intending to shoot at its residents to intimidate them and pressure them into removing them from the area. Upon arrival, they positioned themselves close together, with the victim standing between his uncle and the second individual. The operation began when M. M. threw a sound bomb, followed by gunfire at Ain Delbeh. When the magazines were empty and while reloading, the victim advanced forward without noticing due to the darkness, and he accidentally shot him, resulting in immediate death. This forced him to leave the body behind and exit with the second individual, while he kept silent about the matter for fear of his brother's reaction."

M. M. corroborated what had been stated by A. D. and added that he had asked him not to discuss the matter with anyone and that he would turn himself in to the security agencies after the burial rites, but he avoided doing so."

The security forces indicated that "the necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were entrusted with the competent authority based on the judiciary's directives."
