Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law for a new immigration system that includes the "deportation" of illegal immigrants from Russia. The document states: "The deportation system applies to foreign citizens or stateless persons present in Russia without legal grounds, in order to ensure their departure or obtain legal documents to stay in Russia." The law imposes fines ranging from 15,000 to 30,000 rubles on foreign citizens who are illegally present in Russian territory. It also establishes fines for legal entities responsible for the illegal presence of foreign citizens. The law comes into effect 10 days after its official publication.
