The Directorate General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers announced that "Prime Minister Najib Mikati, under memorandum No. 26/2023, declared the closure of all public administrations, public institutions, and municipalities tomorrow, Monday, December 11, 2023, in response to the global call for Gaza and in solidarity with the Palestinian people and our people in Gaza and the Lebanese border villages."
In this context, the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Bassam Badran, announced the closure of all faculties and institutes of the university tomorrow, December 11, 2023, with normal operations resuming on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Minister of Education and Higher Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Halabi, issued a decision to close public and private schools, high schools, and technical institutes, as well as public and private higher education institutions, tomorrow, Monday.
The Lebanese Press Syndicate announced the closure of its doors tomorrow, Monday, and called on countries around the world to raise their voices against the governments that stand alongside Israel in its aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and our people in the southern Lebanese villages.
The Association of Banks in Lebanon also announced the closure of banks tomorrow, December 11, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and the Central Bank of Lebanon confirmed in a statement its commitment to this decision.
Similarly, transportation unions in Lebanon announced a general strike tomorrow, December 11, 2023, calling on all colleagues and drivers to comply and participate in the strike.
The Directorate General of General Security stated that it would cease to accept all citizen transactions and requests from Arab and foreign residents at all General Security departments and centers in Lebanon tomorrow, December 11, 2023.
In the same context, the Association of Oil Importing Companies (APIC) announced the closure of company warehouses and the halt of petroleum product deliveries (gasoline, gas, and diesel) tomorrow.
The Lebanese Exchange Syndicate, in a statement, called on all member exchange companies to close in solidarity with the announced strike.
Moreover, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport stated that "operations in all Lebanese ports will be halted, and ships docked at those ports will sound their horns in mourning for the oppressed martyrs at precisely noon."
The "Lebanese Medical Syndicate in Beirut" announced it would close its doors tomorrow, Monday, in response to the global call for Gaza, urging "fellow doctors to stop working at their centers between 11 AM and 12 PM."
The "Association of Insurance Companies in Lebanon" also announced closure tomorrow, supporting the decision of economic entities. The "Contractors Syndicate" also issued a statement about "closing its doors tomorrow in solidarity with the Palestinian people and our people in the border towns and villages of Lebanon."
