Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced that he will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, Monday, after undergoing implantation of a heart rhythm management device. Netanyahu was transferred to Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv late Saturday night. On Sunday, he issued a video statement saying that his "health condition is excellent" and that he plans to attend a pivotal vote on a judicial amendment in the Knesset tomorrow.
He explained, "A week ago, I underwent the implantation of a monitoring device. This device emitted a beep this evening and indicated that I should undergo the implantation of a heart rhythm management device, which I indeed need to do tonight. I am in excellent condition, but I must listen to my doctors." He stated that he would leave the hospital in time to participate in an important anticipated vote in parliament that starts today and continues until Monday.
In his video statement, he added: "We continue our efforts to complete the legislation, as well as the efforts being made to do so by consensus, but in any case, I want you to know that I will join my colleagues in the Knesset tomorrow morning."
Netanyahu was transferred to this center on the night of July 15 after suffering from dehydration while on vacation by the sea in Galilee without taking necessary precautions amid a heatwave. He postponed visits to both Turkey and Cyprus after entering the hospital and undergoing surgery for the implantation of the heart rhythm regulator.
Netanyahu is facing a domestic crisis during his sixth term as Prime Minister, as protests against his right-wing government's efforts to make judicial amendments escalate. On the other hand, lawmakers began discussing a bill on Sunday that would limit the court's ability to annul government and ministerial decisions if deemed "unreasonable." The results of the vote on this bill may become clear on the same night.
