The events in Kahale continue to be monitored, as the government commissioner to the military court, Judge Fadi Akiki, decided to "leave four sons of Kahale under conditions of residency." The four young men from Kahale arrived at the Directorate of Intelligence in Yarzeh accompanied by a team of lawyers to be heard as witnesses. Reports indicate that "four lawyers are accompanying the sons of Kahale to the investigation: Eliane Fakhry representing the Forces - Maurice Gemayel representing the Kataeb - Fadi Haj representing the Free Patriotic Movement - Arlette Bjeani representing the municipality."
In a related context, the Mukhtar of Kahale, Abdo Bou Khalil, spoke about the meeting with the Army Commander in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon": "We are in close proximity to the Lebanese Army and are ready to appear before justice for the investigation to take its course, and we have full confidence in the leadership of the army and its members." He added, "When we see the military uniform, we feel at ease, so how would it be if we saw the Army Commander himself?"
In another development, the Kataeb Political Bureau held a meeting chaired by party leader MP Samy Gemayel, and after discussions, issued the following statement: "The Kataeb Political Bureau listened to the details of the meeting that took place between the opposition delegation and the Army Commander as explained by MPs Dr. Selim Saadeh and Elias Hankach, who detailed the steps taken and to be taken by the military institution regarding the Kahale incident."
The Political Bureau confirmed its support "for the people of Kahale and rejects that the summonses be public on one hand and confidential on the other, which suggests a tendency to criminalize the victims in their own home and exonerate elements of 'Hezbollah' who seek refuge in security squares that are hard to penetrate."
It viewed that "the incident, along with its timing and circumstances, added to previous crimes, necessitates strong judicial stances to lift protection from the militia that tramples Lebanon and exposes its citizens to senseless death. Any dilution of investigations and protection of the perpetrators will inevitably lead to dire consequences."
Additionally, it rejected "the discriminatory behavior that entrenches, crime after crime, the feeling of the existence of Lebanese above the law and others who comply with it and pay the price for a lost justice that cannot be restored from one side only."
Furthermore, it stated: "Lebanon is witnessing a campaign against public freedoms and human rights that is alien to it and is being fought at a more than questionable time. The Political Bureau rejects any form of public freedoms suppression except for what contradicts the constitution and laws, considering that these campaigns can only be framed as opening side battles that distract attention from the fundamental issues in the country."
Regarding the truck cargo, a judicial official commented to "An-Nahar" on the incident in Kahale and the ongoing investigations, stating that "at the end of the ongoing investigation into the Kahale incident, the truckload of ammunition will be handed over to 'Hezbollah' according to the ministerial statement that includes the equation of Army, People, Resistance, which has been approved by all political factions, just as it happened in 2021 in Hasbaya when citizens confiscated a rocket launcher belonging to the party and it was then returned."
