Inspection Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture Examine Wholesale Markets

Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture conducted inspections of wholesale markets for vegetables and fruits across various regions in Lebanon, with the support of officers and personnel from state security under the direction of the relevant judiciary. The inspection targeted markets in Akkar, the North, Baalbek, Zahle, Nabatieh, and the central vegetable market in Beirut. As a result of the campaign, which will continue to protect products and preserve the agricultural situation, and to support farmers, it was found that there were types of fruits and vegetables of non-Lebanese origin, which were confiscated and submitted to the relevant judiciary. The ministry confirmed in a statement its ongoing monitoring of "this issue which requires joint efforts with security, customs, and judicial forces," and expressed its gratitude to "all the staff in the ministry and the relevant directorates who work tirelessly to preserve our agricultural sector and its resilience." It also thanked "the efforts of state security personnel and the judiciary, who are closely following all details of this file and others."
