Sharjah Ruler Lays Foundation Stone for Integrated Projects in Sharjah City

This morning, Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, laid the foundation stone for a series of integrated projects in the Mahdhab district of Sharjah City. The projects include two electricity and gas stations, a water reservoir, the Mahdhab commercial center, the Police Sports and Cultural Club, Victoria International School, and the Mahdhab government nursery. He also unveiled the project to complete Al Shunuf Road, extending from Nazwa Road near Al Qasimia City, passing through Al Siouh district until reaching Mahdhab.

These projects are part of His Highness's vision and commitment to providing comprehensive educational, commercial, recreational services, and infrastructure to enhance social stability for families that will live in Mahdhab, distinguished by its location surrounded by sand, trees, and unique nature. Sultan directed the construction of an additional branch of the Sharjah Cooperative Society, located between the Qutaina and Al Shunuf areas, to provide essential daily needs and consumer goods in proximity to residences in both areas. He also urged for the expedited implementation of all projects to be ready upon the citizens' receipt of their homes in the district.

During his speech on this occasion, the Ruler of Sharjah emphasized that all government departments work under his supervision in full coordination and planning to provide solutions to the challenges faced in preparing housing in these new areas. He mentioned his closeness to the people and his personal communication with them to provide everything they need and to solve any problems they may face.

He clarified that the Mahdhab district consists of the Qutaina and Al Shunuf areas and contains 6,200 plots of land, adding that "this district is pristine with its land and trees, and we hope, God willing, to take care of its trees and plants, as they welcome us and pave the way for us, so we will not be ungrateful to them; instead, we will be welcomed guests."

The Ruler of Sharjah discussed the means of obtaining housing support, which he detailed as government-funded housing where deductions are made from the beneficiary's salary and distributed over the years according to their capabilities and wishes. The government commits to pay the interest to banks. Additionally, the funding can also come in the form of grants, which are either cash amounts or in the form of residential complexes. In case of obtaining a grant as a cash amount, the government pays the applicant for them to design the building and handle all housing arrangements.

He pointed out that "many challenges have faced housing support applicants who received cash directly in several areas due to a lack of sufficient construction experience." He directed the Housing Department to study the cases of those struggling, saying: "We direct the Housing Department to maintain close follow-up with housing applicants receiving financial grants and not leave them alone, and we say to them: 'Study the problems they faced and find them final solutions.'"

He explained that "residential complexes consist of ready-to-move-in homes containing all necessities such as bedrooms, family areas, and outdoor spaces for family comfort with their children." He urged citizens wishing to build their homes to coordinate with the Housing Department to oversee construction, establishment, and design operations to benefit from their expertise and presence in serving citizens, thereby preventing the wastage of financial resources due to a lack of expertise in these fields.

The Ruler of Sharjah spoke about the ongoing rapid efforts to provide all services in Mahdhab district before the arrival of the first residents, to connect the area with main roads, and complete connections for all services such as electricity, water, and natural gas, as well as nurseries for children and schools for education. Additionally, a large commercial center will be established to encompass everything needed by the area's residents, along with a branch of the Sharjah Cooperative Society close to residential areas providing residents’ daily needs for basic food items, making them accessible for all residents, alongside a medical clinic serving the families of the district.
