Al-Hajieri on the Anniversary of Nasser: As if the Ages of Betrayal Have Converged in This Pitiable Time

Deputy Melhem Al-Hajieri stated that "in the time of dignity with Nasser, there were the three no's: 'no peace, no negotiations, no recognition of the Zionist enemy,' and 'what was taken by force cannot be restored except by force.' However, in this time of betrayal, we have reached a dangerous turning point where Arab capitals open their doors to the enemy and several Arab states rush towards normalization and alliance with this occupying entity of our land in Palestine."

In commemoration of the anniversary of Gamal Abdel Nasser's passing, he said: "On this day, 53 years ago, we lost the revolutionary Arab hero and one of the noblest men of the Arab nation, Gamal Abdel Nasser, from whom we most need to reclaim his revolutionary liberating approach and his developmental project, and to return to his thoughts and principles in these critical and fateful turning points our Arab nation is experiencing.

Gamal Abdel Nasser, the man who changed the course of history, had the American, British, and global intelligence services spend vast amounts of regressive Arab money to tarnish his image and that of his revolution. Yet, in vain, they tried; this man remains, after more than half a century since his departure, a symbol of dignity and a symbol for all freedom-loving individuals and revolutionaries not only in our Arab world but also among the free people of the world. It is enough pride for him that today the revolutionaries of Africa rising against Western colonialism draw inspiration from his revolution for human freedom and dignity. His image continues to be lifted by Arab crowds in the arenas of the Arab struggle for freedom, liberation, social justice, and the right of peoples to liberation, development, and national wealth, and for the liberation of Palestine.

We are currently living a tragic reality as if all ages of regression, betrayal, and degradation have converged in this pitiable time. Where were we and where have we become?"

He added, "In this time, we are experiencing the tragedy of fragmentation, ethnic, sectarian, and identity-based differences at the expense of Arab unity and position, while wealth is stolen, money squandered, states destroyed, and territories occupied from Iraq to Libya, increasing the strife and civil wars. It has horrified us that the poison of the regressive official Arab regime has spread to revolutionary Arab forces. It is alarming that some who once bore the banner of Nasserism have, unintentionally, become the trumpets of the new colonizers, turning against principles while seeking identity-based and sectarian affiliations, as if they have never drawn from the well of Nasser's revolutionary, liberating, unifying, progressive, and anti-colonial thought aimed at liberating Palestine and establishing social justice.

The difference between an era when Arabs had their power, dignity, pride, and high regard—when they stood proud with 'hold your head high, brother, for the era of colonialism has passed'—and a disgraceful era burdened with regression, humiliation, underdevelopment, and occupation is.. Gamal Abdel Nasser lives, Gamal Abdel Nasser is dead. Gamal Abdel Nasser lives on, and let his memory be immortal."
