Death of Jordanians Due to Thirst Revives Demand for Communication Network in

The incident of finding the bodies of two Jordanians in the southern Badia desert east of Jafr after they died of thirst has reignited the call for a communication network in the area, recalling a similar incident about two years ago.

As soon as an official source confirmed the transfer of the bodies to the forensic department to determine the cause of death and initiate an investigation into the incident, acquaintances of the two young men, Anad Abu Tayeh and Anad Al-Fattaneh, reported that they left early Thursday morning towards the east of Jafr, specifically towards the "Manawakh" area, approximately 30 kilometers from the town, for a recreational trip, after which communication with them was lost.

They indicated that their vehicle broke down in the desert, and each left in different directions in an attempt to find a signal to call for help, but to no avail due to the lack of mobile phone coverage in the region.

According to narratives shared on social media attributed to the families of the two young men, a shepherd found one of the bodies under a tree in the area before notifying the authorities, who quickly combed the area and found the second body in another location in the desert.

The reports confirmed that they died of thirst in hot summer weather, and pointed to a similar incident in 2022 when a vehicle carrying three relatives broke down, and one of them decided to look for a signal and left the site on foot before his body was later discovered.

Social media users have called on telecommunications companies in the kingdom to provide equipment in the area that ensures the possibility of mobile phone communication.
