A statement was issued by the media office of Deputy Ibrahim Kanaan on Monday: "The Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, Deputy Ibrahim Kanaan, officially received from the Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Yusuf Khalil, a list of treasury loans from 2020 to 2023, and a list of grants from 2018 to 2023. This was done based on the official request of the Finance and Budget Committee during the discussions of the 2024 budget proposal.
In terms of figures, it was notable that the loans alone for the year 2023 amounted to 31,892,584,935.913 trillion, which represents 72% of the legally available spending capacity based on the twelfth basis rule. This issue will be followed up by the Finance and Budget Committee, given the significant expenditure this figure represents for the government outside the general budget and applicable laws."
