The Egyptian Ministry of Education announced on Monday the official removal and cancellation of new subjects for the next academic year for third-year secondary students. The Ministry indicated that geology, psychology, and philosophy have been completely removed from the secondary school curriculum for the upcoming year.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education decided to eliminate psychology and philosophy as subjects for the third year of secondary school in the literary stream starting next academic year.
The Ministry stated that the specialized subjects that secondary school students will be tested on, which will be included in the total score, include Arabic language, first foreign language, history, geography, and statistics.
Moreover, the Ministry clarified that the subjects not included in the total score for secondary school across all streams are the second foreign language, religious education, national education, and optional activities.
Additionally, a new decision was announced regarding the restructuring of the secondary school curriculum, officially stating the complete removal of geology from the secondary school subjects. Previously, the Minister of Education and Technical Education announced that geology and environmental sciences would not be included in the total score for the scientific branch of the secondary school starting next year.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education issued a statement revealing that geology has been excluded from the subjects not included in the total score for secondary school in the coming year, confirming that the final decision states that the subjects not added to the total score for secondary school across all streams include the second foreign language, religious education, national education, and optional activities.
