Light Festival Sharjah 2024 Decorates the Emirate's Landmarks

Under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival will kick off tomorrow evening, organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. The festival features light shows inspired by Sharjah's culture, history, and nature, utilizing the latest advanced lighting technologies and innovative artistic equipment. The festival will run until February 18, over 12 days, with daily shows starting from 6 PM to 11 PM, except for Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays when they continue until midnight.

More than 15 international artists will participate in the festival, presenting artworks that illuminate 12 iconic tourist attractions in the emirate, including three new sites this year: the General Command of Sharjah Police, the Al Hamriya Public Market, and the Kalba Waterfront, alongside other locations such as Khalid Lake, Al Majaz Waterfront, the Bee'ah Headquarters, Al Dhaid Fort, Sharjah Mosque, Sheikh Rashid Al Qasimi Mosque, Al Noor Mosque, and Al Rifaisha Dam. Additionally, the "Village of Lights," which started earlier this February in the University City, hosts over 55 small and medium national projects.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority aims to highlight the diversity and richness of Sharjah through the selection of participating venues at the festival, showcasing the beauty of its tourist attractions. Through the artistic light shows, historical landmarks recount stories of Sharjah's rich heritage, such as Al Dhaid Fort and the Al Hamriya Public Market, as well as areas reflecting Sharjah's natural features and environmental diversity, like Al Rifaisha Dam, and iconic Islamic structures with stunning architectural designs, including Sharjah Mosque and contemporary buildings that express the future envisioned by Sharjah in terms of development and innovation, such as the Bee'ah Headquarters. Thus, the festival presents a comprehensive and integrated image of Sharjah as a distinguished and radiant cultural, artistic, and tourist destination.

The Sharjah Light Festival annually attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors who enjoy creativity, music, and artistic skills, receiving wide public attention in last year’s edition with approximately 1.3 million attendees, while the "Village of Lights" alone welcomed over 189,000 visitors.
