Abbas Calls on Biden to Intervene to Stop Genocide

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged U.S. President Joe Biden to "intervene immediately to stop the humanitarian disaster and genocide against our people, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 42,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are children and women," according to the Palestinian news agency "Wafa." In a televised address broadcasted by Palestine TV on Saturday evening, President Abbas directed his comments to "U.S. President Joe Biden, who bears a unique responsibility, given his international standing and significant influence over the occupying authorities, to intervene immediately to stop the aggression and provide relief to our besieged people in Gaza, as well as to halt the attacks by the Israeli occupation forces and the continuous terrorism of settlers against our people in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which warns of an imminent explosion." He affirmed that "the Palestinian people deserve to live freely and with dignity on their land and will remain steadfast until they achieve their legitimate rights to independence and a state with Jerusalem as its capital."
