In Gaza, it was announced today, Friday, that Ahmed Bahr, the acting head of the Legislative Council and one of the leaders of Hamas, died from his injuries sustained in a previous Israeli airstrike.

Ahmed Mohammed Atiyah Bahr (born in Gaza, 1949) is a Palestinian politician, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and the First Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council. He became the acting head of the council after the Israeli army arrested the council's head, Aziz Dweik. He is married and has thirteen children. He holds a degree in the Quran and Quranic recitation with a chain of narration to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, from Palestine. He also holds a Ph.D. in Arabic Language from Palestine. He was administratively detained by the Israeli army without charge for two years in 1989.

- Lecturer in the Arabic Language Department at the Islamic University of Gaza (Palestine).

- Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council representing the Reform and Change List. He was elected as a representative from Gaza, receiving 73,988 votes.
