Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a phone call from U.S. President Joe Biden, during which they discussed the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, ways to reduce escalation, and increase the flow of aid to Gaza, according to the official Qatar News Agency. The agency stated that the two leaders reviewed "the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, particularly the implementation of the humanitarian ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, along with joint international efforts to reduce tensions and escalation, protect civilian lives, respect international humanitarian law, and increase the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza."
The call also covered the strategic relations between the two countries and topics of mutual interest. U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson noted that Biden spoke to the Emir about the obstacles to the exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas on Saturday. Following the call, which took place at 1:30 PM Eastern Time, the White House was informed by the Qataris that the exchange agreement was back on track. Watson stated that Biden was updated on the latest developments related to the implementation of the exchange agreement.
