The triathlon event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has sparked controversy among this year's summer sports due to concerns about athletes swimming in the Seine River. Organizers spent over a billion pounds attempting to clean the river on time, but the event was postponed from Tuesday morning after tests showed elevated pollution levels following heavy rainfall last Friday. Racing was approved yesterday morning, Wednesday, with the British team succeeding in both the men's and women's events.
However, the race experience was not enjoyable for everyone, especially Canadian Tyler Mislavchuk, who finished ninth, 52 seconds behind British leader Alex Yee. Like many others, the 29-year-old runner appeared to be in worse shape upon crossing the finish line. After struggling ahead of Yee and other medalists, cameras captured him violently vomiting just moments after completing the grueling race, which included a 1.5-kilometer swim in the Seine, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run. The unpleasant scene was recorded by television cameras, which also showed several other athletes lying on mats, struggling to catch their breath after the race.
