Google Publishes Trending Topics of 2023

The Israel-Gaza war topped the news list in Google's "Trends Report" for 2023, which tracks the most searched events by users on the popular search engine. In second place was the incident of the Titanic submersible (Titan), which killed five people on board when it imploded underwater during a trip intended to explore the remains of the famous Titanic ship in June. The earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria in February ranked third, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries, with the death toll in Turkey alone exceeding 50,000.

The remaining news items in the ranking were as follows: 4) Hurricane Hilary, 5) Hurricane Idalia, 6) Hurricane Lee, 7) Shooting in Maine, 8) Shooting in Nashville, 9) Chandrayaan-3 space mission, 10) War in Sudan.

Google's report includes several categories divided into lists, including celebrities, actors, deceased individuals, athletes, musicians, TV shows, movies, and sports teams. In the movies category, "Barbie" topped the search list, followed by 2) "Oppenheimer," 3) "Joan," 4) "Sound of Freedom," 5) "John Wick: Chapter 4," 6) "Avatar: The Way of Water," 7) "Everything Everywhere All At Once," 8) "Jawan," 9) "Creed 3," 10) "Pathaan."

Regarding sports teams, Inter Miami topped the list for 2023, following the addition of Argentine star Lionel Messi after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended. In second place was the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, which has won the "NBA" title 17 times, while Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr came in third, having made notable summer signings of major players from European clubs, including Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. The ranking of other sports teams was as follows: 4) Manchester City, 5) Miami Heat, 6) Texas Rangers, 7) Al Hilal, 8) Borussia Dortmund, 9) India National Cricket Team, 10) Boston Bruins.
