Diplomatic efforts are intensifying to prevent the region from slipping into a wide-scale war, following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau in Iran, and Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Washington and Moscow have become involved in the efforts aimed at restraining the tension. In contrast, according to the "Wall Street Journal," indications have shown that Tehran has closed the door to all mediations and is preparing to launch an attack in the coming days. The newspaper reported that U.S. officials have observed since the weekend that Iran has begun moving missile launch platforms and conducting military exercises. Moreover, Axios reported, citing an American official, that the response from Iran and Hezbollah is still developing. The official stated, "Intelligence suggests that Iran and Hezbollah have not yet decided on their specific course of action." He added, "It remains unclear to U.S. intelligence who will strike first and the nature of the attack." The site also reported that U.S. officials informed Biden to expect a scenario involving two waves of attacks, one from Iran and another from Hezbollah.
