Amid rising tensions in the Red Sea due to repeated Houthi attacks on commercial ships and threats to international navigation, the British Navy warned of an incident near the Hodeidah port in Yemen. The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority reported, in a memorandum on Tuesday, that it received notification of an incident approximately 50 nautical miles west of Hodeidah port. The Houthis claimed on Sunday that an American warship attempted to fire at one of their reconnaissance drones conducting "surveillance" activities in the Red Sea, but one of the missiles exploded near a southbound ship. This comes after U.S. Central Command confirmed that it shot down four drones headed towards an American destroyer in the southern Red Sea last Saturday, launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. It is noteworthy that Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned last Wednesday that they would attack U.S. warships if their forces were targeted.
