Israeli Media Reports Strong Clash Between Egypt and Israel

The Israeli newspaper "Maariv" reported that "the clash continues between Cairo and Tel Aviv regarding the Rafah crossing and the Israeli army's control over the Philadelphi Corridor adjacent to the Egypt-Gaza border." The Israeli newspaper explained that Cairo rejected a new Israeli proposal that would allow some Palestinian casualties from the Gaza Strip to exit through the Rafah crossing under Israeli supervision, noting that the Israeli proposal, which was firmly rejected by Cairo, intensified this clash.

The reason for the rejection was based on the condition that travel procedures must first be completed on the Egyptian side of the crossing, following coordination with the Israeli side. Cairo's rejection was in line with its stance emphasizing "the necessity of operating the crossing under Palestinian management."

Maariv continued, stating that the Egyptian leadership believes that "the recent Israeli movement aims to impose a fait accompli, especially after the crossing was completely destroyed on the Palestinian side, and the refusal to take the necessary arrangements for its repair or to allow Palestinian elements to manage it entirely."

A high-ranking source revealed that the concerned authorities in Egypt coordinated with UN officials to allow 2,272 trucks to enter Gaza over the past three weeks, according to the "Cairo News" channel. The source clarified that the entry of aid would temporarily be through the Kerem Shalom crossing on the Israeli side until the Rafah crossing is operational again. He added: "Egypt reiterates its rejection of any operation of the Rafah crossing with the presence of the Israeli occupation."
