Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed the continuous collaboration of all Lebanese ministries and administrations with international organizations and civil society bodies to take all necessary measures and steps within the framework of the governmental emergency plan, to face the difficult circumstances we are going through and any potential developments. He emphasized that "diplomatic communications are active in several directions to stop the Israeli threats against Lebanon, and on another front to reach a ceasefire in Gaza."
He underscored that "the Lebanese government's paper, which outlines the rules aimed at achieving long-term stability in southern Lebanon, which we announced at the end of the week, sets clear foundations for the solution, the most prominent of which is de-escalation to avoid the devastating cycle of violence and that the international community plays a crucial and immediate role in calming tensions and curbing the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon."
The Prime Minister noted that "the strongest message he stresses in all his meetings and diplomatic communications is the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701, which is the cornerstone for ensuring stability and security in southern Lebanon." He confirmed that "Lebanon is in contact with the concerned countries regarding the extension of the international forces operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) without any changes," while pointing out that "the cooperation between the army and UNIFIL is essential at this stage, and what is being circulated about disagreements and differences is not accurate, as everything that arises during the implementation of the required missions is addressed immediately." He also emphasized that "Lebanon is committed to the tasks of UNIFIL."
