Israeli National Security Council Chairman, Tzachi Hanegbi, expressed confidence that the United States would provide necessary support in the event of an Iranian attack, adding that Tel Aviv would not seek military assistance from Washington. Hanegbi stated in an interview with the German newspaper "Bild": "We do not ask for military support from anyone, not even the United States, and we do not need their troops." He further emphasized, "American soldiers will not have to shed blood for us."
Hanegbi pointed out that U.S. President Joe Biden was the first American president to visit Israel during wartime and said he is firmly committed to Israel's security. He mentioned, "We have very good relations with the White House. The Prime Minister was there just a few days ago."
Earlier, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, stated that Iran and its regional allies would certainly take revenge on Israel for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement. For its part, the "New York Times" reported that the United States is preparing to deploy additional fighter jets to the Middle East amid escalating tensions in the region. The newspaper indicated that the transfer of additional U.S. air forces is linked to a potential attack by Iran on Israel following Haniyeh's death in Tehran.
