Sami Jamail, the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, warned against "any deal that secures Israel's safety at the expense of handing over Beirut to Hezbollah." In an interview with Al-Hurra channel, he stated, "Those who think such a settlement will pass are mistaken; we will confront any new settlement that threatens our future in Lebanon." Jamail affirmed that "there are assurances from the entire international community not to enter the war," questioning, "Should we believe them? We are cautious about everything, and we demand the international community to restore Lebanon's sovereignty by implementing resolutions 1701 and 1959."
He pointed out that "the quintet committee has not yet scheduled a meeting," asserting that "the Lebanese Republic is held hostage by Hezbollah, which prevents the people and the parliament from electing a new president." Jamail asked, "Will we submit again like in 2016 to Hezbollah, or will we remain united?" He stated, "Speaker Nabih Berri has connections with America, he has family and interests there, he wants to appease them because he cannot upset them. At the same time, he has Hezbollah's sword hanging over his head, which he also cannot offend, putting him in a position where he is weighing his steps, trying to 'satisfy' both sides."
Regarding the international envoys and the recent French paper presented to Lebanon, he warned, "I cautioned the French that amidst all these papers and envoys, no one mentioned the issue of state sovereignty," pointing out that "everyone focuses on stopping the conflict in the south, Hezbollah's withdrawal, and Israel's cessation of violations." He continued, "All countries have an interest in preventing war between Israel and Hezbollah. Therefore, in their view, if the price is the presidency in Lebanon, it is a minimal cost for them."
Jamail emphasized the need to "create a broad opposition," stating, "We must form an opposition front and hold Hezbollah accountable. He must either coexist with us in one state or establish his own state independently because we are not willing to live in one state."
He responded to "the plea of the President of the Free Patriotic Movement, Deputy Gibran Bassil, for Christian parties to place a red line under existence, partnership, and power-sharing," saying, "Christian existence, power-sharing, and partnership are ailments in a sick body; the problem is that this body is held hostage. Before treating it, it must be reclaimed for liberation." He added, "The inclusion of the Free Patriotic Movement in this opposition is not on the table; despite its slight proximity, it is still far from what we aspire to."
Jamail met with Italian Ambassador Nicoletta Bombardieri in a farewell visit, accompanied by the political advisor at the embassy, Pietro Inear. Present at the meeting were Political Bureau member Joël Bou Aboud and head of the Foreign Relations Department Marwan Abdullah. They discussed "the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, especially the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas and its extension to Lebanon, in addition to the presidential election," according to a statement from the Lebanese Forces Party. Jamail emphasized "the party's positions regarding the presidential issue and the necessity of electing a president agreed upon by all parties, away from the imposition approach followed by Hezbollah," also calling for "the need to protect Lebanon from any escalation and to reach a comprehensive solution for the region."
