Unprecedented Escalation in Northern Israel

In recent days, the northern front in Israel has witnessed an unprecedented escalation due to strikes from Hezbollah in Lebanon targeting Israeli positions, barracks, and settlements, according to Israeli media. Israeli Channel "Kan" correspondent in the north, Ruby Hammershlag, stated that "Hezbollah's operations have taken an upward trend, as very heavy barrages are being recorded towards settlements that have not previously been evacuated, with many barrages targeting settlements in the southern Hula Valley and in other places."

In this context, Channel 12's northern correspondent, Guy Varun, noted that there are directives for settlers instructing them to stay close to fortified areas and to minimize their activities. Varun also highlighted that "settlers in the north are facing strike after strike, and there is no stable life," adding that "the school year is supposed to start in a week and a half, but there are not many residents in the Galilee, and there is no education, while in the Golan Heights there are no directives from the Home Front Command, although many settlers live in fortified rooms."

For his part, former Northern Command Chief, Major General (Res.) Noam Tibon, commented on the Israeli airstrikes targeting the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon in an interview with Channel 12, stating that "the achievements in the north are tactical accomplishments, but on a strategic level, the entire north is evacuated, and the residents cannot return to their homes." Tibon pointed out that "Israel has failed extraordinarily in the north."
