Indian media reported today, Tuesday, that at least 41 people have died following several landslides in a mountainous area of Kerala, southern India, while heavy rains and poor internet connectivity hindered rescue efforts. An "Indian Express" report suggested that "hundreds may be trapped, and up to 41 people may have lost their lives." The Indian Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in the state today. The office of the Chief Minister of Kerala stated: "Relief efforts are ongoing with two helicopters from the Indian Air Force being dispatched."
