Saint Catherine City is one of the most unique and remarkable cities, not only in Egypt but in the world. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its religious, historical, and environmental landmarks. The name of the project, "The Greatest Manifestation," reflects its significance, while the city remains named Saint Catherine. The project is located in the area between Mount Moses and Saint Catherine, distinguished by its proximity to important and well-known tourist sites, such as the ancient church of Saint Catherine's Monastery and the Valley of Moses.
### Objectives of the Project
The Greatest Manifestation will be small but highly valuable, aiming to attract a limited number of tourists who spend significantly. The project also seeks to promote spiritual and environmental tourism, such as camping, mountain climbing, and valley sightseeing, as well as therapeutic tourism given the rare medicinal plants in Saint Catherine. It will provide hundreds of permanent job opportunities for local residents to increase their income.
### Development Plans
The project includes the creation of:
- A Peace Square
- A new visitor center
- An eco-lodge
- A mountain hotel
- An administrative complex
- A new tourist area
- A new residential area
- A network of roads and facilities
- Development of the existing eco-lodge
- Enhancement of the tourist area
- The historical town center
- The bedouin area
- The Valley of the Monastery area
- Support for the region's vegetation
### Heritage Preservation
The project has been planned to achieve maximum compatibility for development without impacting the environment or heritage. It aims to establish the first digital archive of the manuscripts of Saint Catherine's Monastery for easier access and preservation. The "Building of Peace," which is for all religions, will be constructed as the area includes religious sites linked to the three Abrahamic faiths. The project also plans to create a pathway, or Moses Trail, reflecting the historic route of Moses through Wadi al-Raha to Mount Sinai.
### Environmental Considerations
Asphalt will be removed and interlocking bricks will be used to pave roads and pathways in harmony with the environment. No building will exceed two stories to maintain clear sightlines, and building designs will align with the area's natural features.
### Components of the Tourist Project
The Greatest Manifestation project consists of several components:
- Establishing 570 housing units in the Olive Neighborhood on the city's outskirts, equipped with full services for workers and their families, and planting a large number of olive trees, capitalizing on the region's unique olive oil.
- Building a range of service and educational facilities, developing the existing mosque, and creating a nursery and a craft production unit for families.
- Establishing a comprehensive network for flood drainage and utilization, along with two treatment plants to rehabilitate and recycle water for irrigation of natural plants and olive and almond trees in the area.
- Additionally, enhancing the tourist area and commercial and investment centers, and creating a mountain resort and commercial bazaars, along with a youth center.
Upon the opening of the Greatest Manifestation, numerous events will be organized, similar to those that took place during the Avenue of Sphinxes celebration.
