Members of the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State have agreed on the necessity to activate the election laws for presidential and legislative elections issued by the "6+6" committee. They affirmed their support for the efforts of the UN mission in Libya to prepare for the second expanded meeting of the parliament and the Council of State in the coming days, aimed at speeding up the launch and implementation of an agreed-upon roadmap, as confirmed by a Libyan source to "Al-Ittihad."
Participants from the parliament, the Council of State, and representatives of party and national movement coalitions in Misrata emphasized the need to broaden consultations across all of Libya's geography and urged the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to launch a political process facilitated by the UN Support Mission in Libya, to begin unifying national institutions and the executive authority to create suitable conditions for elections.
The meeting of the members of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State took place in Misrata yesterday, continuing efforts to achieve consensus and confirming that the election laws issued by the 6+6 committee are the legal framework for conducting legislative and presidential elections, and to proceed towards forming a mini-election government.
