Vision 2030 and Parallel Paths of Renaissance

Vision 2030 is regarded as an economic turning point towards sustainable resource management, representing a shift from income based on natural resources to sustainable income. This direction is fundamentally the one on which the destinies of nations are built. I propose that there is a renaissance towards the future that guides us through multiple paths to align with Vision 2030, specifically in cultural and social visions. To clarify, the vision that society should adopt and internalize is to be an active partner in Vision 2030 by fostering collective awareness and embracing its objectives.

For example, in the sports sector, which is closely tied to societal movements and aspirations, the community expects more contributions from businesspeople to promote sports and cultivate a pursuit of success and victory. Our developmental phase seeks not coincidences or adventures, but rather success rooted in plans that should reside in our hearts before it manifests in our efforts toward overcoming challenges. The feeling of citizenship, belonging, and responsibility creates the strategic depth necessary for sustaining the vision and its goals.

Thus, we must realize that we are in a phase of comprehensive transformations that consider all burdens on developmental progress. A small yet crucial example can be drawn from the recent book fair at King Saud University, where some booksellers insisted that customers pay cash rather than via card in an attempt to evade taxes. Such cases are not confined to book fairs but are prevalent among some unscrupulous expatriates. Therefore, we must transition to a point of broad and impactful awareness in social contributions. The vision of renaissance is not an isolated path from the movements, demands, and aspirations of the nation. Instead, it is a comprehensive vision at all levels; individuals in the streets have both active roles and reactions to it, as does the entire community. Hence, we should not neglect the social awareness path and the cultural path.

As I have emphasized many times, many wealthy individuals have not provided any noteworthy service to the community that played an influential role in their wealth creation. Currently, we are witnessing a positive and conscious youth movement striving to serve their community, indicating a significant awareness of the importance of community service. Many of these noble individual efforts manifest through tree plantings, humanitarian assistance in hospitals, or supportive services for those in need. All these efforts show young people paving the way for significant progress and national renaissance.

We all hope that these conscious individual actions will evolve into a comprehensive social movement that addresses all deficiencies and repairs all shortcomings. Perhaps the Misk Foundation is the best example of an organization that is aware of its future developmental role and addresses many aspirations and visions of the youth. I wish there were more institutions like this aware and active one, as the coming phase requires a synergy of visions and effective advancement towards the future.

In summary, there must be an awareness that we are a nation moving towards the future in every sense of the term. Progress toward the future requires us to have conceptual and technical harmony with its conditions and ideas. We cannot pursue the coming future with the tools and conditions of the past; rather, striving for the future necessitates a social awareness of future conditions. I hope sociologists will take an active role in studying global futurism phenomena and their reflection on our youth, as well as our interaction with these futurisms and their role in the envisioned renaissance.
