The Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Judge Bassam Molawi, sent greetings to Palestine yesterday, considering that the injustice inflicted on the children and elders of Gaza stems from a nation that has not managed to unite on its fundamental issues. He also extended greetings to the south, which yearns for law and legitimacy, and which seeks international, Arab, and local legitimacy to protect its land and its people.
During a graduation ceremony at the Arab Beirut University in Tripoli, he emphasized that national unity within the framework of legitimacy leads to success in all national and practical matters. He stated, "In politics, we all build the state together. We all look forward to combining our efforts to give this country the best we have so that we do not target each other, and so that everyone’s efforts come together to achieve success and stability. Love for the homeland is never about targeting any of us who share the homeland; the elevation of the homeland comes not through injustice. Injustice is the darkness of the Day of Judgment, and achieving national stability requires consensus, love, unity, and everyone holding onto the rope of God without division, and remembering the blessings of God upon you, because we all live and thrive in the grace of God."
Molawi addressed the graduates, saying, "When I saw you on this large platform, I felt nothing but determination, a determination to be together and for you to be united as one hand to achieve the progress and political unity of this country, to elevate its economy. Because the economy is a pillar of strength, the strength of the state, and the state can only exist with a strong economy, with the knowledge that you use, which leads to progress and elevation. The individual initiative that you are part of is essential for community development and for overcoming the large economic or financial problems that Lebanon suffers from. We rely on your strength, determination, and success in all matters; you are the wealth of this homeland.”
He highlighted that security is essential for maintaining order and for any development. It is necessary for economic growth to achieve prosperity and to allow all citizens to move freely with dignity, security, and safety. Security and safety can only be achieved through the enforcement of law. He noted that law is applied in every country around the world, and that Lebanese people respect it abroad. He remarked, "For instance, Lebanese wait long hours in airports around the world, yet they complain about waiting for a short time at Beirut Airport and want their transactions finished in a few moments. I say that we bear responsibility with the citizen, and maintaining security and order and enforcing the law is in everyone's interest as it ensures progress and gives everyone their due rights. Enforcing the law is a matter of faith and helps stabilize society. Therefore, I urge you all to adhere to God's rope and to enforce the laws because our Lebanese laws carry something of faith; love for the homeland is also part of faith and the commitment to everything that serves community development."
Molawi continued, "I advise you today to honor your parents as we discuss righteousness and kindness," alongside Dr. Ammar Houry, in the presence of those who have sacrificed, given, and cherished righteousness and kindness towards students, affirming that the Arab Beirut University is a pioneering institution in progress and development, providing graduates with much, including love, knowledge, faith, and what is necessary for nation-building.
He added, "We live in difficult political and economic circumstances in the absence of a president, amid divisions and conflicts that do not lead to any benefit. We live under circumstances that leave nothing and should be abandoned, returning to national unity. The nation succeeds with unity, and all matters succeed likewise. I recommend that you always strive to be understanding and agree to preserve your history, your country, and your homeland, steering the country towards progress and prosperity because consensus leads to the success of all matters, and it is through consensus and love that you will triumph."
Then, the university president honored Minister Molawi with a commemorative shield, and the university administration announced the awarding of degrees to the graduates.
