Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant stated today, Monday, that "Iran is trying to flood the West Bank in general, and the Jenin area in particular, with weapons and ammunition." He noted that Israeli authorities are reinforcing "alert teams" in Israeli settlements and towns with "sophisticated weapons and drones." Gallant also revealed the formation of "rapid response teams to provide an immediate response in security necessities," during comments made during a field tour in the "Gilboa" and "Emek HaMe'ininot" areas located north of Jenin, according to a statement issued by the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The statement mentioned that Gallant's field tour was aimed at "assessing the situation with Israeli army officials and heads of regional councils regarding the enhancement of security elements in towns facing various threats, with a focus on gunfire from the Jenin area." The statement quoted Gallant as saying: "We are preparing to confront any evil. On one hand, we are working intensively in Jenin and in the refugee camps and everywhere to thwart terrorism. On the other hand, we are working to strengthen the alert teams and intervention units we are forming with the most advanced weapons and the best possible training, including drones and all equipment that will be required so they can operate and ensure an immediate response until forces arrive."
