Today, Monday, the "Hamas" movement announced that "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's talk of a partial agreement confirms his indifference to the lives of the captives." The movement pointed out that "the United States should pressure Netanyahu to stop the war," affirming that "our position is positive regarding the mediators' efforts to reach an agreement."
"Hamas" revealed that the Beijing meeting was postponed at the request of the Fatah movement, stating in a statement: "The delay of the factions' meeting in China is a continuation of the trend of exclusivity in the Palestinian arena." They added, "Continuing on our consistent and steadfast approach, we in the Hamas movement responded to the call of our friends in the People's Republic of China concerning achieving Palestinian national unity, and we dealt with it with high positivity and great responsibility. This invitation, whose steps were clear from the beginning, was to have a first bilateral meeting between Hamas and Fatah, which took place in April, followed by a broader meeting involving the Palestinian factions that was supposed to be held today. The Chinese friends continued to follow up in the past period and held meetings with all factions to prepare and arrange for the success of the broader meeting today. As preparations for the delegations' travel began, the President of the Palestinian Authority contacted the Chinese side and informed them of his refusal to participate in the broader meeting without providing any logical justifications or engaging in national dialogues."
The statement expressed regret for "this position that hinders reaching a national consensus at a sensitive and critical time for our people amidst the 'Deluge of Al-Aqsa' battle, where our people present an ideal image of steadfastness and resilience, alongside the remarkable performance of resistance against the occupation, particularly in the Gaza Strip." It stressed, "We insist on the importance of holding the expanded national meeting, and we affirm that everyone has the right to participate in discussing mechanisms for organizing the Palestinian home. We see the disruption of the expanded meeting in Beijing as unjustified, unacceptable, and not serving the higher interests of our Palestinian people."
For its part, "Fatah" held the "Hamas" movement responsible for "the failure of all previous dialogues," stating: "We are committed to sitting at the national dialogue table in China." Palestinian officials had announced the postponement of the "Hamas" and "Fatah" talks in China without specifying a new date.
